School & Life

Today was my first day of class. It was my Social Research class which is one of the three required courses to major in Sociology. I started to think it was pointless because I am probably not going to become a sociologist and therefore will probably not do any social research, but my teacher pointed out something interesting. She said that even if we never do research ourselves, we will always be exposed to other studies and we can use what we learn in this class to evaluate whether or not those studies are reliable. I think she has a good point.

As for the rest of life, not much is going on. My friend Crystal and I are going to have a joint birthday party with a Halloween theme. We are going to make it girls only, but the sad thing is, I don't have that many friends. :( I only realize this when things like this happen. I do have friends that don't live here, and I have many acquaintances here, but there aren't a lot of people who I would invite to a birthday party. So I guess it might end up being kind of small. I had some high hopes. D: But regardless of who comes, I think I am going to make it slightly fancy. There will be three or four "signature" cocktails and there will be a chocolate fountain. I purchased one from Amazon, and I think that I will make my money back by renting it to people I know. We are going to make it a costume party. I think it will be fun with just us girls. I don't know. Tell me if you think that is lame.

Well, I'm off to watch Golden Girls and read some more of the first Percy Jackson book.
